The GYUWC was re-formed and opened it’s doors in October 2016, which also coincided with Great Yarmouth being designated as a pilot area for the new Universal Credit benefit system.
We provide Welfare and Employment advice to anyone in the East Norfolk area,
We are a locally based Charity providing advice and support on Employment and Welfare rights as well as specific benefits advice.
We offer practical support to accompany the advice we give and help people to find resolutions to the challenges they face.
We are an unfunded Charity that relies on donations to continue to support people. If you can afford to help, then please consider donating by clicking on the ‘Donate’ button above.

- To spend time with you to discuss the problems you are having and help you decide how you want to move forward.
- To provide advice and information about your rights and responsibilities.
- To make phone calls for you or draft letters for you to send about benefit or employment issues.
- To fill in forms with you.
- To advocate for you when you are being treated unfairly.
- Tp provide sample letters to help you make complaints of unfair treatment or appeal against decisions that have been made against you.
Drop in sessions for confidential face-to-face assessments
Thursdays only, 10am-12pm, first come, first served. Following this short assessment, you will be given guidance and information. Where appropriate, you will be allocated a full advice session or given in-depth assistance with specific tasks.
